Barcinno has been a collaborative and experimental platform since day 1. What began as a simple WordPress blog has evolved into an influential resource and de facto landing zone for anyone interested in Barcelona tech, startups and innovation. Keeping with our experimental culture, we’re opening our platform up to the community so that together we can highlight and amplify the news, stories and accomplishments of Barcelona’s tech and startup ecosystem.
Introducing: Barcinno Channels!
Barcinno Channels are new way to showcase your Barcelona organization in front of a targeted audience of international entrepreneurs, investors and business professionals with an interest in Barcelona. For our readers, it’s a great way to explore all of the inspiring and innovative ventures in our city.
How Does It Work?
Once registered, your Barcinno Channel becomes a one-stop landing page showcasing your company’s products, job openings, news, social media and culture. It’s also a direct channel to reach our international audience.
The easy and intuitive backend walks you through creating your Channel by adding your company description, links to your homepage and social media, uploading photos and videos, posting jobs, and pulling your blog content directly in front of our audience. Check out Barcelona companies Mobile Jazz and Talent Garden as great examples of what can be done with your Barcinno Channel.
The new information, jobs and content that is featured on your Channel will be shared through the Barcinno platform, our social media profiles and Barcelona’s Weekly Tech Update newsletter that reaches 1200+ targeted subscribers each week.
Who Should Have A Barcinno Channel?
Currently, 34 Barcelona organizations have registered their Barcinno Channel and we’re aiming to provide this new resource for every single member of the Barcelona Startup Ecosystem including: Startups, Investors, Universities, Government Organizations, Service Providers and Large Corporations. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and it takes a community to grow a sustainable startup ecosystem for future generations of companies. By working together and maintaining our deliberate effort to improve our startup ecosystem, Barcelona can accelerate its quest on becoming the most attractive tech city on the planet!
Here are 5 Reasons Every Organization in the Barcelona Startup Ecosystem Should Have a Channel on Barcinno:
1. Expand Your Reach
Barcinno’s audience is 65% international. Since we are an English-language resource, Barcinno is the first stop for any non-Spanish speaking professional seeking information about Barcelona’s tech, startup and entrepreneurial communities. By incorporating your brand on Barcinno you have a direct channel to global investors, entrepreneurs, developers and other business professionals.
Channels offers you a powerful and trusted partner that consistently shares your brand’s news, jobs and culture to a targeted international audience.
Furthermore, any content that you share on your Channel (ie: Job Openings, Blog Articles, Photos and Videos, Screenshots and New Product News, etc) will be shared to our entire audience through the Barcinno platform, our social media channels and our weekly newsletter. With your Barcinno Channel, our audience becomes your audience.
2. Showcase Your Culture
One thing we’ve learned while running Barcinno is the power of storytelling. Something in our inherent human nature compels us to get inspired and involved with capitivating stories. As consumers, it’s usually the “why”, not the “what” that causes us to make a purchase or engage with a service provider. Investors, especially in the early stages of company formation, make it clear they are investing in the team, not just the idea. Ideas are commodities, but it’s the team that has to execute and create value.
You Barcinno Channel is a fantastic tool for company branding and sharing your internal culture with future employees, new clients and potential investors. You can share videos and photos of your team working in Barcelona and provide detailed bios about your leadership. The flexibility of the Barcinno Channels backend allows for endless options to showcase your brand in unique and creative ways that will build a buzz around your company and the products you are building.
3. Unlimited Job Posts
Do you plan on hiring this year? Your Barcinno Channel comes with unlimited postings to our new job board. Our international audience is full of global talent dreaming of the opportunity to find a reason to move to Barcelona. By showcasing your company culture and keeping your current job openings up-to-date, you’ll always have a steady inbound stream of new applicants applying for a chance to join your team!
Most recently, Kompyte – the Barcelona startup that tracks and analyzes your competitors – hired their Director of Sales, Jennifer Norman, from their Barcinno job post. With direct access to an international pool of talent, your Barcinno Channel creates a compelling case to move to Barcelona to work on your amazing new venture!
4. Revolutionize Collaborative Journalism
This one’s a little abstract, that’s why we’ve snuck it in the middle;) No other industry has been disrupted more than news and media since the dawn of the Internet Age. Powerhouse global news publications like The New York Times have struggled to adapt, and click-driven pop-culture websites like BuzzFeed have taken their place. One thing is certain, the business model for news is broken.
Here at Barcinno, we have a hunch that the future of journalism is collaborative – a shared responsibility to promote stories and raise awareness for important news and events going on in our city. It shouldn’t be left alone to an organization that struggles to balance editorial ethics with bringing in advertising revenues or that can be “bought” by multinationals or politicians. The future of news is a truly democratic channel to get new ideas the attention they deserve.
5. Support the long-term growth of the Barcelona Startup Ecosystem
All around the world startup communities are driving innovation, encouraging new business creation and jump-starting local job growth. Creating a more robust and attractive startup community in Barcelona benefits everyone because we feed off of each other’s talent, creativity and support. Barcelona has all of the ingredients to be a world-leading startup hub, but we have some work to do to accomplish that goal and raise awareness.
By pooling our efforts and sharing our news in a collaborative way, we all benefit with increased exposure to international talent, investors and potential customers. Successful entrepreneurs re-invest in the Barcelona Startup Ecosystem with their knowledge, mentorship and of course some cash from their exit. A thriving startup community lets founders connect with other founders, share experiences of overcoming technical and business issues they may be facing, and elicit the support of local service providers, educators, corporate entities and government institutions.
As with everything we do, Barcinno Channels are a work-in-progress, a dynamic new tool with a long-term perspective that will improve and evolve as we grow together as a united city.
