Whether you’re a visitor or resident, it’s fascinating to see how Barcelona has utilized technology to improve the city and lives of its people. From mobile applications created by the Government, to private companies that promote and integrate the creation of new systems, methodologies and practices that everyone can use and enjoy.
One example of those entities is a representative symbol of the city, FC Barcelona. The Club has always been integrating systems, for all fans of good football, to enjoy a complete experience from the pre-game warmups to the post-match celebration.
The latest advancement that the Club has decided to integrate is technological innovation for everyone who heads to a game or other Camp Nou Experience. This new step is the Mobile Ticket project, to store game tickets or events in smartphones. Through applications such as Passbook for iPhone and Android PassWallet the club will offer electronic tickets that by QR code will be validated at the stadium.

“The objective in the area of technology is to bring the Club closer to members and fans and we believe the mobile is the most useful tool to do this, because it is within everybody’s reach and it opens us the possibility of making this relation easier,” explained Didac Lee, Barça director responsible for New Technologies.
This is just an example of how the club addresses technology to old and new environments. We can see how the club is working to reach out their fans with digital products, services and good content to fans around the world. An example of this is how the distributor of mobile content Binbit provides good content to fans in 40 countries through smartphones. Or how FC Barcelona players interact with their fans using new technologies such as smartphones to provide insights of their training, post-games and personal lives.
As Barcelona keeps getting named the “Smartest City in the World“, we’re confident that our futbol club will adopt similar advancements in technology to make the experience of going to a game at Camp Nou even more enjoyable. Força Barça!
