After several months developing their technology, Kompyte, a Barcelona-based company providing software to track and analyze competitors in real-time, has taken a big step in their international expansion by officially launching in the United States. Backed by NYC-based VC Rose Tech Ventures, Kompyte aims to capitalize on the world’s largest and most mature tech market.
Since launching their latest version in May during the Collision Conference in Las Vegas, the majority of their customers are now coming from the US. In order to capitalize on their fastest-growing market, the company has taken strategic steps to focus their efforts across the Atlantic including new partnerships and distribution agreements. Barcinno introduced Kompyte to the Barcelona startup ecosystem last summer and their international expansion is proof the market is responding to their SaaS offering.
Kompyte’s proprietory core technology fills two critical needs for most companies operating in the hyper-competitive online space:
- Online Competitor Tracking – Kompyte automates your competitor tracking sending you real-time alerts if a competitor changes their pricing, updates their website or launches an AdWords campaign. The technology can even detect new competitors that enter your market by tracking your preferred keywords.
- Digital Marketing Analytics – If you’re a niche product or service, competing on differentiation, Kompyte helps marketing teams understand, measure and improve their digital strategies to position their brand effectively in the marketplace and have the greatest impact with their target audience.
If you’ve ever tried to sell something online, you’ve probably realized it’s incredibly difficult. With over 120M online businesses, it’s a noisy place. Kompyte has developed a unique technology that provides companies with an incredible advantage when competing online.
If you’re in a mature (read: price sensitive) market, say like rental cars or fashion ecommerce, it can be devastating for your revenues if a competitor runs a promotion or dumps their pricing. The amount time between their changes in pricing and your realization could end up costing you thousands of dollars in revenue. Kompyte solves that need by alerting you in real-time when your competitor makes a change on their website, runs a promotion or launches a new Google Adword campaign.
What’s perhaps even more impressive is it’s ability to analyze your competitors’ marketing strategies and use their own KPIs against them. From a marketing perspective, trying to predict the impact of your content and social marketing campaigns can be like trying to predict the wind – it blows all over the place! Kompyte tracks your competitors blog and social media channels and shows you which types of post are creating the most engagement and impact with your target audience. This is a dream for content marketers and social media managers everywhere.

Kompyte’s Funding
The company, which has raised half a million dollars to date, has just closed their first international financing round. Rose Tech Ventures, a New York-based venture capital firm, leads the latest investment round that is headed by Alantis Capital in Spain, the VC presided over by Baldomero Falcones and managed by Hugo Fernández-Mardomingo, who is also an advisor and investor in Kompyte. Joining Rose Tech Ventures and Alantis Capital in the latest financing round is IDODI Ventures, a VC firm led by Marc Vidal, with roots in Dublin and Barcelona.
Other mentors and business angels from the Conector Accelerator program have also invested in this round, including Lluís Font, founder of Zyncro, who will take a seat on the board of directors to contribute his expertise in sales and his knowledge of running an international SaaS company.
To maximize the impact of their US launch, Kompyte has closed partnership agreements with Gust, the world’s largest business angel network based in New York City, and Jahia, the leading open source User Experience Platform (UXP), so that the companies and startups in their extensive networks will have special access to Kompyte.
As Pere Codina, CEO of Kompyte, says: “These international agreements are a great opportunity to multiply our visibility as they put Kompyte on the map. Thanks to these partnerships, thousands of companies around the world will have special access to our platform.”
(disclosure: Kompyte is a partner of Barcinno Channels and offers a 20% discount to Barcinno’s audience using the promo code: Barcinno20)
