Just as the last of the tablet, phablet and smartphone connoisseurs head to the airport, Barcelona welcomes an influx of the biggest biotech names the industry has to offer. Right on the heels of the Mobile World Congress, the Catalonia capital plays host to more than 1.300 biomedical companies in the 2013 Bio-Europe Spring conference. This will be the second time Barcelona hosts Bio-Europe and will further showcase the progress being made to turn Catalonia into a world leader in the biotechnology industry.
In stark comparison to the glitz and glam still hanging in the air from MWC, Bio-Europe is laser-focused on creating new relationships for the industries C-level executives. This year’s meeting expects to attract more than 2.000 SR/VP/CEO types to the CCIB Convention Centre, which will surpass the turnout from 2010.
The contacts being made and new ventures being forged this week may have long-lasting, global implications in the years ahead. Ginny Lobel of US-based Defined Health noted, “We are always excited to bring our unconventional insight to the biopharm and investment companies that attend BIO-Europe Spring. The level of intellect and thought that the presentations and panelists bring to the discussions stimulates great enthusiasm…, and hopefully spurs more informed partnering discussions.”
There’s even a new technology being used this year to ensure efficiency and maximize the value of the event. EBD Group is utilizing it’s partneringONE® networking solution to facilitate meaningful and scheduled interactions among the collaborators. The system is expected to generate more than 11.000 private F2F meetings between the largest biotech giants and the newest innovative startups entering the industry.
Included in the 1.300 companies attending are more than 60 organizations based right here in Catalonia. To find out more about Bio-Europe Spring Meeting in Barcelona and its participants, check out: http://www.ebdgroup.com/bes/index.php
