Hello and happy Monday,
We hope you had a wonderful weekend, despite the unsettling news that Madrid has once again refused to accept any calls for dialogue and instead announced plans to suspend Catalonia’s autonomy for the 3rd time in last 100 years.
I’m sure that will go down just fine…
It is shocking that in the year 2017 a “democratic” EU member state has the power to seize control of telecommunications, takeover local media platforms, and dissolve an elected parliament.
We believe the right to self-determination is a non-negotiable tenant of democracy and we continue to support the call for dialogue (without restrictions) between Catalonia and Spain before this situation gets any worse.
Now onto the news.

Well Scott
I’m a barcinno follower and there are a couple of mistakes on your statements, I understand that the situation gets all of us a little nervous. I would suggest you, respectfully, to widen your sources of information. (P.E. the parliament is not going to be dissolved… unless is functionally locked by the pro-independency majority…) or keep the scope just “Tech, Startups and Innovation”
Regards.
Scott Mackin says
Thanks Jorge! Yes, striking a balance b/w our typical scope and commenting on the current political climate is getting harder every day. Shuttering websites and censoring the local media curbs free speech. Forcing a new election because you don’t like the way people voted violates the will of the people. These are fundamental democratic principles no matter which way you lean. Do you see it differently? FTR we’re not pro-indy, we’re just pro-democracy.
Thanks for reading and for commenting! Perhaps we can find a better forum to discuss. Open to any suggestions.
