This afternoon, Jobfluent will host the 2013 Barcelona Startup Fair featuring 30 Spanish startups seeking the best talent they can get their hands on. It’s a call to action for developers, designers, SEO experts, and social media gurus seeking a new opportunity with a high-growth Barcelona startup.
Barcelona Activa and Jobfluent are teaming up to host the event at the Fábrica Moritz where they expect more than 500 attendees to be on hand. While the event is free to applicants, it should be noted that the majority of the roles are technical in nature and you have to register online and print your ticket in order to gain entrance. If you can’t make it in person today, all of the opportunities will be available online as well.
Many of the local startups are fairly well established brands in the Spanish ecosystem and some have just received fundraising so they’re ready to grow their team and scale their business. Some of the participating startups include Tuenti, Kantox, Zyncro, and Yuilop, which have already proven their business model in the market and are now growing internationally. Additionally, Knok, the Barcelona based home swap startup, has recently closed a financing round and is now ready to take the platform to new heights and new locations.
It’s great to see the Barcelona startup scene organizing events such as this in order to match the local business with local talent. It’s no secret the job market in Spain sucks right now and these companies are offering an incredible opportunity to join a dynamic startup where there’s rarely a dull moment. Working at startup gives you the opportunity to wear many hats and make a true impact on the bottom line. Of course it can be a roller coaster with many ups and downs, but nothing is more satisfying than seeing your hard work pay off and start gaining traction. To steal a phrase from Startup Digest, ‘Life is too short to work at a boring company!’
