Barcelona International Community Day 2019: Meet New Talent and Get Inspired

Barcelona International Community Day is back! One of the year’s key events for expats and entrepreneurs in the city, the sixth edition takes place on Saturday 26th October at Museu Marítim.

With an eclectic program of speeches, exhibitions, round tables and workshops, the event will build upon the success of previous years to deliver invaluable tips, strategies and inspiration to the city’s expat community. Whether you’re a bright-eyed newcomer or a seasoned Barcelonian, this free event is the perfect place to make connections, share experiences and find out more about this amazing city!

For anyone new to the city, finding your feet and building your foundations can be a daunting task. Barcelona International Community Day 2019 will provide an insight into how to hit the ground running. This Year’s Hosts

Each year, Barcelona International Community Day assembles a collection of successful, self-made professionals who have first-hand experience of what it means to become established in Barcelona.

Last year our very own Scott Mackin, Barcinno’s founder, was one of five ambassadors chosen to host the event. Barcelona International Community Day 2019 will see five more key players in the city’s international community provide a unique insight into life in the Catalan capital. 

Demonstrating Barcelona’s amazing diversity, this year’s hosts come from five different continents.

Anjalina Chugani, who was born in London but has roots in India, trained at the prestigious Escola Hofmann to become a private chef and teacher. She regularly runs workshops, has cooked up culinary collaborations with renowned chefs and has published a book, ‘Soul Spices’ a celebration of Indian cuisine.

Fadima Diawara, from Guinea, is the creator of the first African high-quality low-cost smartphone, Kunfabo. Fadima has lived in Barcelona for 10 years and aims to revolutionize the smartphone market from a social perspective.

Intercultural training specialist Jean-Philippe Charles, from Belgium, has been in Barcelona for 22 years and has raised his family here. Jean-Philippe has worked with people from 90 countries. His client list includes the likes of Henkel, Mango, Esade and Hewlett-Packard. 

Argentinian Julieta Alberio moved to Barcelona 15 years ago after falling in love with the city. She has since created Hockey Plus – in conjunction with FC Barcelona – a social project that has been implemented all over the world.

Peter Sotirakis is an Australian translator, writer and screenwriter. Originally trained in graphic design and journalism, Peter worked as an editor, English teacher, promotional director, radio presenter and chief producer. In 2008 he decided to reinvent himself and has since worked on films, documentaries, books, and cinema projects.
