Barcelona-based Geenapp recently closed a round of €500.000 from investors such as Kima Ventures, Caixa Capital and Wayra.
The startup connects your apps and your ad-campaigns with users, and gives you the tools to analyze the traffic from 4000 different sources. As a publisher or a network, Geenapp lets you earn money, while using and sharing apps in your network.
This was the second round of funding for the company, which now will focus on getting a more international presence, as well as expanding the team:
“We have done a miracle with 6 people, and everyone has been doing everything. However, it’s time to specialize every part of the company with smaller teams,” says Gina Tost – CEO and co-founder of Geenapp to Barcinno.
International presence
The startup that was founded in Barcelona in 2013 runs over 27,000 campaigns in 191 countries, with their main presence in the US, Israel, India and central Europe.
Tost calls the latest investment more than important:
“Automation and global scalability of the business is critical to the growth of any tech company. This round of financing is important to further develop new tools that allow us to investigate the economy of Apps and flow in different markets.”
According to the company, 2015 was very good. A total of €750.000 in revenues and the predictions for 2016 is to reach between 1-3 Millions of revenues.
Best 100
Geenapp has gone through Telefonica’s Wayra accelerator in Barcelona, and closed a round of 200.000 through their business angel network in 2014.
The company has been recognized for their work through magazines like Wired, where Geenapp was one of the 100 best European startups.
Their founder, Tost, was also awarded “One of the 100 best Female Founders” by The Hundert Magazine.
Now, new challenges faces the company according to Tost:
“A fast growing company has it’s perks. Now we need to control the growth and the technology in order to give the good service we have been providing so far.”
