Don’t let this beautiful spring weather fool you, a hurricane is descending on our fair city in a mere 8 days. Mobile World Congress 2014 promises to be bigger and badder than years past and will soon deliver 80,000 mobile professionals from every corner of the globe. For one glorious week, the mobile world will drop everything and head to Barcelona to mix, mingle and show off their latest innovations that will be launching in 2014.

Mobile Sunday 2014
Just one day before the official kick-off of the Mobile World Congress, Mobile Sunday is back for the 9th year to connect with mobile influencers, developers, investors and entrepreneurs in a relaxed, social networking environment before the blowout week begins! The event will take place Sunday 23rd of February 2014, in the heart of Barcelona.
The event is FREE but pre-Registration is strictly required here.

ShowStoppers @ MWC14
ShowStoppers organizes product introductions, sneak previews and demonstrations for selected journalists, bloggers, industry and financial analysts, venture capitalists and business executives. The seventh-annual ShowStoppers @ Mobile World Congress is the press event for the wireless world. ShowStoppers combines a product showcase, hands-on demos, and a relaxed reception into one special event with buffet dinner and open bars. Journalists arrive and meet with exhibitors at their convenience, working their way around the room. Exhibitors arrive 2 to 3 hours prior to the event to set up and grab a bite to eat. The Best Of British Mobile Startups
The UK has a longstanding reputation of innovation and entrepreneurship in the mobile sector. As a curtain raiser to Mobile World Congress, UK Trade & Investment, the UK Government’s trade and investment organisation, is showcasing a number of UK early stage companies at this pitching event, followed by networking, in Central Barcelona on Sunday, February 23, 2014.

Mobile Premier Awards
This competition powered by AppCircus is the largest open and global cross-platform app competition in the mobile industry, it provides the point of reference for the startup and developer community during Mobile World Congress. The event will take place during the evening of February 24th at Sala Apolo, on the famous Rambla of Barcelona, and will feature winning apps from Appcircus events and Appcircus challenges from 2013.
The Mobile Premier Awards are FREE to attend, register here. Here you will have the chance to meet developers from all over the world competing for the best app of the year.

Bubble Over Barcelona
This year, the third annual Bubble Over Barcelona (BOB) mixer will take place in a very majestic, modernist building from 1906 located on scenic Paseo de Gracia, in the Eixample area. The goal of the event is to connect influencers from around the world with mobile innovators from brands large and small while in town for MWC. The evening event will kick off with an intimate dinner for the sponsors, followed by a cocktail party for invited guest with a mojito bar, a sherry cocktail bar, and maybe a bit of absinthe.

MEF Connects MWC 2014
For the 12th year MEF is organizing the legendary event on the first night of MWC: MEF Connects MWC! For the second year the event will take place at the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA) and will bring together over 600 international members and invited VIP guests from across the global mobile value chain. The event is sponsored by American Express, TIMWE and Mobitrans.
This is a MEMBER and INVITE-ONLY event, all member companies have been allocated a fixed number of tickets and have received instructions on how to register their attendees online. You can sign up here to register your interest in the event.

Heroes of the Mobile Fringe: Annual Ladies Lunch
Heroes of the Mobile Fringe is teaming up with Ellas2.0 for their annual Ladies Lunch at Le Rouge BCN. The lunch is a chance for us ladies to get together for an hour or so over a relaxed lunch and chew the fat with our peers. Priority will be given to ladies to attend. If there’s room, then we’ll be able to have some gentlemen join us too. We have a little more room this year as we’re in a different venue and the lunch will be buffet/tapas style.

GSMA Global Mobile Awards Cerimony
The Awards presentation will take place at the Mobile World Congress on Tuesday, 25 February 2014 as part of the conference programme. The 2014 Awards Shortlist will be announced at the end of January. The Global Mobile Awards Ceremony is open to all shortlisted companies and is included in Platinum, Gold, Silver Passes and media who have been accredited to attend MWC.

Barca Starta 2014
The Barca Starta is back for another year. The event, showcasing 10 shortlisted mobile marketing startups, will take place on 25 February. Each finalist will have three minutes to tell their story in front of an audience of VCs and mobile specialists. They will also be featured on the Mobile Marketing website in the run up to the main event.
