TECTEC is back for the 2nd edition of their event series aimed at breaking down the barriers between hackers, entrepreneurs, investors and key influencers in Barcelona. This Thursday, September 26th, Creative HotHouse will host a wonderful evening of music, speakers, pitches and demos guaranteed to engage your inner-techie and bring the Barcelona community together.
The TECTEC gathering has a different atmosphere than your typical tech meetup. Perhaps it’s the inclusiveness of the group, the accessibility of the speakers or general attitude of the people in the room that lends itself to creating new friendships and exploring new ideas. The first TECTEC event last March provided encouragement for the Barcinno project and validated our hypothesis that Barcelona has a tremendous amount of innovative stories for us to share.
This time around, Victor Zabrockis and his team are taking it up a notch. TECTEC 2 will feature the Reactable Star DJ table that takes a unique approach to mixing music as well as a Sphero Ball competition that is a mesmerizingly addictive digital toy from Boulder, CO. The talks this year will feature RJ Friedlander of ReviewPro, Andrés Martínez of Google for Entrepreneurs, Fredrick Johnsson of Creative HotHouse, and Manel Sarasa of Wine is Social. This was one of my favorite parts of the last TECTEC as the talks were short, 10 minutes in length, and usually featured a great anecdote by a successful entrepreneur or investor. By removing the stage and limiting the time to speak, the talks provide an intimate glimpse into the speaker’s mind when facing a difficult decision. The newest class of Wayra Barcelona startups will also be on hand and a few will given some time to pitch their project and casually network with investors and other entrepreneurs.
If you haven’t been out to Creative HotHouse yet and want to have a chill night with some great people, you can register for the event here. The Creative HotHouse space on C/Llull 70 in 22@ District is one of three CHH HQs with locations in Singapore, Jakarta and Manilla coming soon.
