Barcinno visited Pub Summit on Wednesday, July 3rd and had the opportunity to chat with Rebecca O’Dowd from the Dublin Web Summit. Barcelona was the fourth city on the European tour and, compared to Porto, Lisbon and Madrid, the Barcelona startup scene was bigger and more open than they had expected.
What brings you to Barcelona?
We are searching for talented start-ups to bring to the Dublin Web Summit on October 30th and 31st, 2013. And there is no better way to socialize and discuss the start-up scene, while having a beer in the Moritz factory.
Which Barcelona start-ups surprised you most?
We were particularly impressed with Knok. It is a unique idea whose impressive traction demonstrates the peer-to-peer sharing phenomenon and the desire for a truly authentic holiday experience.
The event was attended by 60 persons. A good show up, but not the whole community. Can startups still apply?
Yes, we are searching for startups until the end of August. Interested startups can apply by here. After submission, we will be in touch for a phone interview.
What kind of startups are you looking for and what are the requirements ?
We’re very open-minded to all startups in the tech sector. Ideally, the company would be under 3 years old with less than $3m in funding.
What do you offer the 10 start-ups that will be selected from Barcelona?
First of all, they will get the possibility to present their idea at the Dublin Web Summit. The doors of a world of hosted dinners, lavish parties and curated events hosted by the world’s leading brands, tech companies, investors and media will be opened. The selected start-ups will get a free exhibition stand valued at €9,950 and be right in the center of the action.
