Pixoneye is a startup from Israel which gathers pictures from your phone and turns your personal memories and moments into a treasurechest for marketers and brands. Hold on, it’s not as scary to the invasion of your privacy as it sounds…
The startup had a fantastic pitch, making the audience laugh and at the same time making some very valid points about their business. Although the pitches from other startups in this category were solid, Pixoneye was the one that won over the judges.

Luckily legal
Before the judges could ask the inevitable question about the legality of the service that gather and uses your personal pictures for commercial gain, the co-founder Ofri Ben Porat calmed everyone down.
Fortunately (and obviously) your pictures are not shown to anyone, and your pictures will only generate a pattern in the system that can tell Pixoneye valuable, but anonymous information about your pets, hobbies and travel preferences to name a few.
Some of their customers, in this case Unilever, increased sales by 10 times implmenting Pixoneye technology.
The company has already raised an €800.000 seed round from Telefonica and business angels, and are now looking for investors for their series A round this April.
Private live streaming and artificial intelligence
As already mentioned, there was a lot of great startup in this last award-round, and the Digital Media round might have been the most impressive of the week. These were the other companies competing for the title.
- Hu:toma is maybe Barcelona’s most intelligent startup. The team has built an impressive AI, both for personal and for use in business, and you can also reprogram your own AI. It’s speach enabeled and is constantly learning. The team have until now had offices in Barcelona, but will move to London. They are also is in the middle of the Startupbootcamp accelerator program in Barcelona.
- Flitchio is a portabel gaming device for your phone, made up of two joysticks which help you to manage your mobile games much better than with your fingers on the screen. Right now the device is only usable for Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 users, but there is plan for expansion. It’s also possible to use the device for other activities such as picture-taking and drone maneuvering.
- Civocracy is a platform that facilitates discussion, decision-making and action for direct impact in communities. Citizens are empowered to find solutions collaboratively with decision-makers in government, companies, and non-profits through an easy platform online. Civocracy’s mission is to change the way that communities interact and solve problems, worldwide.
- Snappers makes live streaming easy and accessible to everyone. Through their software, bloggers and other publishers can make orders or streaming requests, and potential users of Snappers can go in and take an order and livestream back to the blogger. Suddenly the lonely blogger have an army of film crews around the world ready to capture all kinds of events through their phone lens.
- UCIC is an app that allows you to select any area in the world and reach out to fellow users, whether you know them or not, to complete an image request for you. If you for example wonder if the event you’re going to is full, you can request a photo from the event, and a UCIC user can send a photo back to you.
- Immfly is a Barcelona based in-flight sales and communication platform for the travel industry. The objective for Immfly is to become “the travel industry’s favourite on-board monetization partner, reaching 100 million connected passengers by 2018. They also recently raised €2.4 million from Caixa Capital Risk. which brings the total investment in the Spanish startup to €10 million.
- Multidub is the app that lets you listen to movies in any given language. It can be used both at home and in the cinema. They are currently negotiating with film producers to include their service in their base of movies and series.
