It’s that time of year again. The holidays are behind us, work is picking back up and Wayra is sending out the call for the global accelerator’s 2014 class of innovative new startups. Telefonica’s international startup accelerator announced yesterday the opening of a new global call for proposals in order to find new projects in the area of Internet and mobile technologies.
Startups around the world have until February 23 to apply to accelerator programs in Barcelona, Madrid, London, and Prague in Europe, as well as Bogota, Buenos Aires and Caracas in South America. This year’s call for startups is especially interested in projects involving the Future of Web, Big Data and Internet of Things (IoT) especially those ventures connected to applications and improvements for Smart Cities.
Barcelona and Madrid are seeking 10 new projects a piece to run the gauntlet between now and April when the new class moves in and begins their acceleration process. For the first time in almost three years, Gary Stewart will not be heading up Wayra Spain as he recently took up the director role of Wayra London and Wayra UnLtd.
