The Barcelona-based game house TutoTOONS has reached their biggest milestone so far – 100 million downloads of their games.
The startup has bootstrapped its way from the start in Lithuania, where they launched (and have their HQ), and now two and half years later, they’re still without funding, but still going strong.
Since early 2014 the game house has released over 200 games.
Barcinno has followed the impressive growth of the company since they won the Startup Weekend in Barcelona in 2013.
18.000 game designers
Because of their drag-and-drop game-builder, over 18.000 different designers has taken part in the game building.
Every day around 300 different designers use their platform.
CEO and co-founder of TutoTOONS Mantas Kavaliauskas explains how they’re determined to not only make games for people to play, but also to create a way of living for thousands of people:
“We had the idea of creating a game builder for everyone long ago. Now, our biggest dream is thousands of independent creative people worldwide making their living by creating games with TutoTOONS.”
The platform is free for personal use, you only pay if you’re selling the game you make. In that case you and TutoTOONS split the revenue 50-50.
1.5 million daily players
The games TutoTOONS make are mostly for kids, and the average age of their players is between 3-8 years old, often girls.
They have 1,5 million kids playing their games every day.
It was only right before christmas, that Barcinno wrote that the game-house reached their milestone of 50 million downloads. At that time the CEO Kavaliauskas, said that they hoped to reach 100 million downloads by 2016, which they’ve managed with a good margin.
TutoTOONS has big plans going forward, as they aim to double their team and triple their revenue, with a new milestone of 200 million downloads.
