Looking back at their numbers after only one and a half years in business, Crowdcube Spain has already managed to fund 20 companies through their crowdfunding platform.
These 20 investments equal a total of €2,973,130. Their largest single crowdfunding event included 73 investors over three days investing over €450.000 in Hemav Drones located in Barcelona in late 2014.
Before Christmas, we wrote that Crowdcube help fund Burrets Barcelona which closed a round of €182,000. Burrets is a restaurant startup, and plans to launch their tex-mex restaurant-chain with healthy and ecological food by 2016.
Growth in 2016
Crowdcube, which started operating in Spain mid summer of 2014, has great expectations for 2016, according to the director of Crowdcube Spain, Pepe Borrell.
“In 2016, the forecast shows strong growth for the sector. While were still behind countries like Britain and Germany, the alternative finance market will continue to rise, as will the birth of new platforms and collaboration with professional investors and investment networks”.
The Crowdfunding platform which was founded in the UK, in 2011, has founded over 330 companies in their own country. It has directed €180 million to startups in the UK so far, with investments in 2015 reaching a total of€109 million.
Crowdcube Spain is currently registered in the National Securities Market Commission CNMV, just like participatory financing platforms, and is one of the few platforms accredited by the Generalitat de Catalunya.
