In less than 10 days, history is going to be made in Barcelona. For the first time ever, Challengers – an international closed-door startup & tech lifestyle experience – will kick off and make Barcelona its home for pushing the limits of what’s possible. For lack of a better definition, Challengers is a conference, but it aspires to be something more. Something different. A forum to challenge the status quo. A place to battle assumptions and make plans for a better future. An experience unlike any other.
What is it?
Challengers is a closed-door startup event that focuses on four key verticals: Commerce, Entertainment, Transportation & Security.
The full agenda of global speakers and special guests can be found here.
When is it?
Wednesday June 17 – Thursday, June 18th, 2015, an immediate and appropriate pre-cursor to Sonar Festival.
Where is it?
Challengers will be held at the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya.
Why is it happening?
Challengers has one single objective: To bring together a carefully curated group of intelligent people and companies that dare to be different and dare to challenge everything!
What does “Closed Door” mean?
Closed door doesn’t refer to exclusivity. Instead it’s meant as a safe-haven, a place where radical ideas can be proposed without fear of repercussions. For certain events, you will be asked to leave your smartphones at the security box area before entering. This will ensure all of the focus and respect can be given to the ideas, and both the speakers and the audience can build a sense of companionship and be free to express ideas they may not otherwise share.
Who will attend?
European startups: Startups in pre-seed, early, mid and late stages of 10-15 startup ecosystems of Europe majority falling under the four verticals. These startups will arrive mainly from: Spain, Israel, Nordics, Portugal, France and Eastern Europe.
International investors: Business angels and VCs from as far away as Singapore and East Asia are making the trip to Barcelona to see what sort of innovation Western Europe has to offer.
Established companies: Corporations, Media houses, institutions and individuals based in Europe will be looking for their partners, clients, acquisitions and inspirations.
