Get Your Game On at Startup Weekend Barcelona 2015

It’s that time of year again! Back by popular demand after last year’s successful edition, where more than 100 people from Spain, UK, France, Germany and Portugal came together to build new companies, Startup Weekend Barcelona will host its 2015 event from the 13th to the 15th of February and it will focus entirely on gaming.

Barcelona is making strong moves to become the Gaming Capital of Europe and we want to make the most of its enormous potential by organizing the first Startup Weekend 100% dedicated to the gaming vertical. The 2015 Startup Weekend participants will be able to present their gaming related project not only focusing on creating a game or presenting a gamification proposal. The teams will have to think on how to develop a game and also a business plan for their project.

Startup Weekend is an event where developers, designers, marketers, product managers and entrepreneurs get together to share ideas, form teams, build projects and create a new business in under 54 hours.

In 2010, a few entrepreneurs gathered at Startup Weekend and spawned what is now one of Barcelona’s most innovative and globally recognized startups, Kantox.

Typically, around half of the participants in Startup Weekend have a technical background and the other half are more business-oriented. This breakdown allows for a unique balance of professionals collaborating on bringing new ideas to life in an extraordinary setting. Due to the international nature of the event, English will be the unifying language.

All of the participating entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to join a team to help covert ideas into reality. From there, the teams will receive feedback from professional investors regarding the project’s viability.

Startup Weekend is an international event that is celebrated in more than 150 countries. It works in partnership with Up.co an international community that increases the exposure of presented projects and offer the chance to compete throughout Europe and the US.
