Last week, The Next Web announced the results of their Tech5 online competition including the 5 fastest growing Spanish startups. High-growth startups that make it to the highly visible and prestigious Tech5 list in their country receive press attention and the winners get a speaking slot at TNW Conference.
In order to qualify, the startup must meet the following criteria:
- Had over €500k revenue in 2013
- Launched in 2009 or later
- HQs in Europe
- Builds and markets its own (scalable) product or service driven by technology (no outside agencies, consulting companies).
The TNW Tech5 list is the result of hundreds of submissions and screening over one hundred companies across seven countries in Europe (Belgium, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom). The Tech5 lists are based on actual data and represents the growth rate between 2011 and 2013 next to the startup’s name.

#1 Akamon (860%)
Barcelona’s Akamon Entertainment is considered an international player in the social gaming field, owning over 35 titles such as Poker, Dominoes, Roulette and Tarot. They are dominating the Southern European and Latin markets. offering thier games through its own site, on Facebook and also partner sites, “localizing” the games to adapt to local versions of the game dynamics. #2 Cabify (396%)
Competitor to Uber, Cabify offers its users the ability to order a chauffeur-driven car, with payments taken through the app via credit card or PayPal. Unlike Uber, the journey prices is set at the booking so you don’t get any surprises at the end of your trip. Cabify offers different vehicles types such as Executive (Mercedes Class E or Audi A6), Luxury (Mercedes Class S) and Group (Mercedes Viano minivans).
#3 GetAPP (347%)
GetApp is a leading independent business applications marketplace focused primarily on SaaS and Cloud based apps. It allows businesses to compare different enterprise apps head to head hence shaving time off the buying process.
#4 ReviewPRO (142%)
ReviewPro is utilized by hotels worldwide to help manage their online reputation and online presence. The platform provides analysis, customer intelligence, competitive benchmarking and reporting which enables them to manage their business more effectively. ReviewPro aggregates hundreds of millions of social media mentions, in 35+ languages, from hundreds of the most relevant Online Travel Agencies (OTAs), review websites and social media platforms. They have clients in over 80 countries, including Louvre Hotels Group, Meliá Hotels International, The Red Carnation Hotel Collection, The Roger Smith Hotel, CitizenM Hotels and Apex Hotels.
#5 Kantox (one to watch)
