It has taken five months, but this week it got clear which teams that´s ready for Startupbootcamp´s next IoT & Data program in Barcelona. After taking a good look at around 300 startups from a base of 1500 businesses, the experts at Startupbootcamp narrowed it down to the 19 best teams which have sacrificed blood, sweat and tears at the “Selection days” this week.
Then the mentors and jury panel chose the 11 teams with the best potential to enhance the future of people, industries and companies with IoT and Data services and solutions. The program starts on the 1. December, and Demo Day is scheduled at the 25. of february.
Better every year
Co-founder and CEO of Startupbootcamp in Barcelona, Angel Garcia, is more than pleased with this years startups.
“We continuously see a growing quality in the teams year after year”, he tells Barcinno.
COO & Program Director at Startupbootcamp Barcelona, Ian Collingwood, has personally gone through hundreds over startups. He says it is impossible to get a good enough look at all of them.
“Since we are looking for quite early stage companies, its a lot like flying beneath the radar, in that they have little or no presence in the media, or in the usual databases that focus on startups”, he tells Barcinno.
He continues to explain how the long and difficult process of finding companies, is extremely valuable to the program.
“it’s exhausting – but completely worth it in the end: we’ve found some amazing companies, plus it gives us an unparalleled depth and breadth of knowledge about the sector in which we work and the current state of the art and the market”
Startupbootcamp 2.0
Collingwood describes how the program every year improve and learn from mistakes.
“This year’s program will be, like a version 2.0 – we’ll change the way we connect startups with mentors, and we plan to put even more focus on helping the startups support and learn from each other while they are in the program”

A self service end-to-end What-If platform that can plug into any data set to provide comprehensive scenario management, persistence of scenario outcomes and visualization.
EXCELERA
Easing the integration of Sensor Systems in all kind of devices and markets: from the Internet of Things to Automobile. Solving sensor integration, accuracy & speed issues and energy consumption problems inside smart sensor systems.
HUTOMA
Building emotionally evolved AI interfaces for connected devices, app and web. A deep learning based AI that can be trained by developers using sample phrases stored in a text file. No need for developers to hard code conversation patterns ahead of time.
INTRANETUM
SaaS knowledge management platform that uses online machine learning, to get real-time feedback and let organizations to classify, analyze and share their knowledge thanks to AI and machine learning techniques.
LIFETRACKER
Intelligent mobile application that manages tasks, devices and services automatically based on tracking and predicting user behavior. Using AI to help manage tasks automatically and to provide balancing recommendations.
MEMIO
Want to increase compliance to medical therapies, especially with elderly and chronically ill. Smart pillbox that provides the right pill at the right time, associated wearable reminder activates an acoustic signal to remind the elderly when it’s time to take the medication and get closer to pillbox to take them. App for the caregiver plans, changes and checks the therapy, plus automatic composition of the dose of drugs.
REALSPEAKER
Audio-visual enhancement to speech recognition systems. The solution uses additional video information, improving voice recognition accuracy by at least 20-30 per cent and making the patent pending technology way ahead of existing competitors.
RECUALIZER
Evaluation platform that discovers the person behind the CV, specially for those who have no experience in hiring. Tests are very accurate and based on projective personality tests (psychology and neuroscience), where employer would slide the bars of requirements.
SEKG
An online platform that helps companies understand consumer behaviors and audiences by passively tracking their emotional reactions through wearables. Bringing sense and meaning to data received from biometric sensors and wearable technologies to understand people’s emotional reactions.
STORM
Combining an ad hoc POS device and a digital platform to connect micro merchants with their stock suppliers and banks. Use transaction data, to generate automated loans and commercial proposals to the micro businesses.
WIMARK
The Virtual Universal Wi-Fi Controller WiMark – software for centralized Wi-Fi network management. WiMark Controller can easily replace highly priced hardware WLAN controllers without compromising functionality of network.
