MyTwinPlace, the global community of 35.000 travelers that share their homes with each other, is now adding another feature to their platform: they’re going to house entrepreneurs.
Through their new program “MyTwinPlace For Entrepreneurs” they want to provide free housing for entrepreneurs when they’re out on the road, traveling to meet with investors, prospects and customers.
Instead, they aim to bring entrepreneurs together under the same roof, as other entrepreneurs are willing to open their homes to their colleagues out on the road.
Exchanging ideas
It’s not just a practical, money-saving motivation behind the project, says CEO Jean-Noël Saunier.
“As a startup founder, I understand that all entrepreneurs share the need to pursue their dreams as fast as they can go. With MyTwinPlace for Entrepreneurs, they get the opportunity to find accommodation around the world, meet each other and exchange ideas about their businesses. All of this without money involved, following the Give and Take philosophy!”
MyTwinPlace works on a point-model that means that by renting out your own home, you earn points that you later use to stay in other peoples homes.
It’s been tried before, but not like this
Airbnb launched a similar project around the Mobile World Congress called “Entrepreneur Hosts Entrepreneur” in 2014 and 2015, but they recently told Barcinno that they’re not sure if they will launch the same initiative this year.
However, MyTwinPlace’s new feature is a global initiative covering all 160 countries where they are active, and it lasts all year round.
“It’s not only about saving time and money, but also expanding your network in other parts of the world”, MyTwinPlace explains.
“MyTwinPlace for Entrepreneurs” is backed by Telefonica’s OpenAxel initiative, which are supported by the European Commission as part of the Startup Europe Hub program. Their goal is to promote cooperation within the European digital entrepreneurship ecosystem.
So if you’re coming to Barcelona for Mobile World Congress, be sure to check out if there’s an entrepreneur with an open house for you!
