Barcelona has been known for fantastic weather, beautiful beaches, breathtaking architecture, mouth-watering tapas and a world-class football team. However, it is now also known for its embracement of innovation and technology, its reputation as a tech startup hub, the location of Spain’s new blockchain centre, and also as the host of global tech events such as the Mobile World Congress, the Smart City Expo and the World Gaming Executive Summit (WGES).
The rebranding of the city has taken place over the last decade where the city by the sea has adopted a wave of entrepreneurs, incubators, startups, congresses and expos, attracting them with its beautiful sights, its cosmopolitan society, its incredible vibe and a sizeable community of companies and individuals who add major value to the tech space.
Today, the local government has been focussing on developing more support for industry that surrounds the areas of blockchain and AI technologies and has seen a number of blockchain and crypto related companies set up shop there, alongside several global events to discuss these technologies, one of which is the upcoming World Gaming Executive Summit that will take place next week, between 3-5 July.
This year the summit will bring together a selection of major players in the gaming industry, including senior representatives from Ladbrokes, Camelot and the Carousel Group to name a few, and will emphasize its content on blockchain, cryptocurrency, AI, and the use of such technologies in gaming. Moreover, it will be held at the iconic W-Hotel and will have 160 top-level speakers, a select group of investors, an industry crowd of 500+ people, and several interesting fringe events.
One of these eye-catching fringe events will be powered by CryptoFriends, a global blockchain and crypto events company with a track record of putting together some of the coolest events in the space to date. CryptoFriends have teamed up with the organizing company, Terrapin, to host an exclusive ICO/gaming pitching session on July 4th between 16:30-18:00. The session will give the stage to a number of projects that are breaking boundaries in gaming, with the use of new technologies such as blockchain and AI.
Eric Benz, CryptoFriends Ambassador and Co-Founder of Clear Protocol is very optimistic about the effect that blockchain will have on the gambling industry, he says:
“The gambling industry as whole has been looking for a solution for many years to provide transparency, auditability and security. Blockchain and cryptocurrencies are here to provide just that. As the internet transformed the way we interact with information, blockchain is now transforming the way we interact with value.”
The presentation session will be followed by a Q&A session and later a Crypto Sangria networking party, organised by the CryptoFriends in the exhibition area.
In addition to the summit itself, several other interesting fringe activities will also take place at the WGES and speeches will be made from a number of senior individuals from the gaming and tech spaces. More information about the summit and all of its activities can be found here.
