Stepping out of the taxi, you thank the driver and pause for a moment. You’re in front of the entrance to a 70s-style cinema in downtown Barcelona. You’re greeted with a drink as you step inside and hear music, above the excited chattering of the hall. There’s time for mingling with some of Barcelona’s most exciting entrepreneurs. Then you grab some popcorn and take your seat. Everyone’s in good spirits and you lean back, relax and get ready to learn.
This is not your typical startup conference. This is the Wisepunk Startup Conference and it breaks all the rules. This one-day, special event is for ambitious founders, creatives and those passionately pursuing their dreams.
The journey from punk, to Wisepunk
“I love learning from others that have been there before me,” reveals Wisepunk organizer René Lönngren. René has founded many successful startups, but the startup events that he attended when his company, Le Cool, was growing fast left him feeling uninspired. “The dialogue was more descriptive than inspirational or tactical, and the networking was limited to how comfortable you felt hitting on other people,” he admitted.
René created Wisepunk to focus on telling the real stories behind successful individuals and share how they were able to create extraordinary things. “Hearing it directly from the person, feeling their energy, passion, and determination is empowering and deeply inspiring,” he believes. But it’s not enough to just have great guests. René chose the cinema as the unlikely location of the event as it’s a place everyone associates with fun, action, adventure, laughter and tears.
No ordinary business conference…
Don’t expect any boring powerpoint presentations or pointless roundtable discussions from this conference. The lineup of guests includes some of the most interesting and successful entrepreneurs of our time who have generated millions in capital. Live, one-on-one interviews unearth the gritty stories that led them to success and reveal the sometimes-ugly truth to making a startup work.
The guest speakers will hold nothing back. Learn about the ups, the downs, the mistakes they made and get the answers to the tough questions you’re burning to ask. Expect personal stories they have never shared before as well as actionable takeaways. You will leave inspired, with tactical advice that you can take back to your team and directly implement into both your business and personal life.
The Wisepunks
